Dollars for Scholars 2007
Thirteen students from three local high schools were awarded scholarships May 30 in the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce's fifth annual Dollars for Scholars luncheon at the Shoreline Center.
"Dollars for Scholars is an investment in a healthier community," incoming Dollars for Scholars Co-President Cindy Ryu said. "We hope our scholars will 'pay it forward' by providing fresh thinking and giving back to the community."
The 13 students receiving scholarship awards included:
Before the awards were announced, State Representative Maralyn Chase and State Senator Paull Shin gave brief reports about the 2007 legislative session.
Also at the luncheon, Dollars for Scholars honored all donors who have given $250 or more during the program's first five years. They included: Accurate Bookkeeping, AXA Advisers, Boeing Employees Credit Union, Carter Subaru, Chuck Olson Chevrolet-Kia, Cindy & Cody Ryu, Club 21, Magic Photo-Dale & Beth Sutton, Tropical Tan-Dan Mann, David Ebert, Dollars for Scholars Washington Chapter, Don & Bobbie Peterson, Gary Batch, CFP, Harley & Michele O'Neil, Highland Ice Arena, CarePlus Clinic-Jerilee Mann, Jim & Dorothy Stephens, Leroy Christiansen, Lake City LLC, Maggie Fimia & Don Moe, Michael Appleby-America Scandia, MMR, Inc., Rich Logan, Safeway, Sam's Club, Scholarship of America, Score LLC, Shoreline High School Class of 1962, Shorewood High School's first three graduating classes, State of Washington Matching Grants, The Hartford, and Wally & Cheryl Crow.
To raise money for 2008 awards, Dollars for Scholars will hold its annual fund-raising auction on Saturday, November 17, at the Shoreline Conference Center. If you would like to help with this fun event or make a contribution please contact the Chamber office.
